3D Printing: What It Is, and How It Will Change Everything
3D printing – you’ve seen articles about it, but what is it and why are people so excited? This is a technology that has existed for two decades, but only recently has it become so inexpensive that it is widely available to entrepreneurs. 3D printing is the process of creating an object by adding thin layer after layer of material, which can be virtually anything (e.g. food, metal, plastic, human tissue), following a design created in a computer.
Join Bert Sanders, who will help us understand the technology, the trends, and the future impacts of this innovative technology that promises to change virtually everything over the next 10-20 years, including medicine, transportation, manufacturing, purchasing, art, housing, and more.
For those who would like to read about 3D printing in advance of the lecture, we suggest these articles: “You Won’t Believe These 30 Items Came From a 3D Printer” and “3D Printing: From racing cars to dresses to human tissue”
